But not forever. Today was my last day of music teaching and it went pretty well. This whole week has gone by in a heartbeat because it has been pretty lowkey with the kids being finished their concert and having nothing to do really. That is ok, I always like having what I call, “Fun Day” for the last lesson. The kids who were to get their Perfect Attendance trophies tonight got them, wrapped up in paper and in a plastic bad..but alas…they got them. (more…)

I thought tonights show was very good-even if all the ladies were not totally AMAZING, I have to say that they were all extremely good and just had their songs to blame for their slight downfalls. I have no HUGE faves yet tonight, but have no idea who should go home because I don’t feel that any of them did that bad of a job to go. I have to be honest and say that THIS season I think will be the best in the entire history of Canadian Idol. Unless any of the idols totally screw it up! (more…)
This past weekend proved to be a very challenging one, perhaps since that whole traumatic time that I had to deal with my 2 practicum teachers who essentially did nothing to help me in my 2nd and final year of my degree. I still can’t get over what they did or didn’t do which was the case, but I have moved on. I still had my own private teaching of music to get me through. In the past handful of days there have been some problems and revelations that have not been at all pleasing to me. I am rather angry and hurt by the restrictions which I am now facing on my creativity with my music students. (more…)

So Canada has stepped it up with our version of Canadian Idol and the first set of 11 men going up to the challenge. It was immediate to see which of the guys were stars tonight. For the most part almost ALL of them are great singers, some of them are fabulous and very few of them royally suck. If the ladies are anything like this tomorrow, this is going to be one AWESOME year!! Here is my take on the mix: (more…)

Another nail in the coffin of this ever expensive year end recital. I decided today to get my programs officially done at Staples. I went in to work early only to find out my first student cancelled, therefore leaving me with a 1.5 hour break! How insane is that?? I decided to make my opportunity to run to Staples closeby and get color copies of my music program I came up with. As I was driving I missed the turn to get in to Staples and saw a Kinkos on my side further down. Sure, why not try that. (more…)

The school year is starting to wrap up and some students have me more than thrilled to kick out of the room, whereas others are like…awww…sniff. I have a few students who won’t be returning which is always kind of sad. One girl can’t even though she has been with me for 6 years and she is pretty sad. She can’t afford the lessons herself and her mom got laid off from her job. It is nice to see the relationships formed with different people-this girl has introduced and brought along her boyfriend with her on several occasions, even his little newborn puppy (who has now peed TWICE on the carpet! oy!). The best students are always the ones who go and the ones who don’t want to BE there never leave. (more…)

The end of a school year is in the air…ahhh…can you smell it? Yep, and that means that the next school year is already in the background just waiting to be visited. I had been waiting for my next placement for what I hope will be my final time at the University in an attempt to get this Education degree DONE!! (more…)

This is the name of the program of which I volunteer under at the Calgary Humane Society. Basically it means that volunteers come in to spend time with each kitty, play with them, love them and just be good buddies to them. I have been doing this for only 2 weeks now and LOVE it! I don’t even mind the halfhour drive because the karma around this whole place is just so positive and happy. Since I already worked at the HS for 3 days, I really know my way around and know the procedures. The only thing I am sad about is the fact that their washing machines don’t work and they have to throw out anything that is even used once by an animal. So if you have extra blankets or towels, don’t be afraid to donate them. (more…)

So much Croc-Talk has made me forget to post these pictures of other shoes in my collection. Even though the Croc craze has taken over my life, right down to an artform in how I hang my Crocs on a wire hanger, I must say that I still have to wear my other shoes in the collection or they will just sit there and turn in to dust. Plus, there are only so many times when I can get away with wearing Crocs at my work until my boss catches me in the hot pink ones and looks at me in horror! haha (more…)

I love the Bay-so much that I have to ban myself from that store if I go too often because I end up getting too many good deals. I haven’t been in that store for a good handful of months though so all has been well. Of course, when I was there today (I tried to avoid the busy road early and actually ended up being too early…oops-no traffic at least!) I had a great time searching around. I tried on a few cool items and decided to get them as they were SO on sale (try 40% off an already reduced 25% off Item plus another 10% off when you use your Bay card). The one lady that was in charge of that section and till was very nice. She had a German accent and was so friendly. She loved my skirt so much so I talked to her about the Winning Style of Winners.
