Yep-this whole long weekend, that is what was on our minds..SELL SELL SELL and then BUY BUY BUY and then CHEAPSKATE CHEAPSKATE CHEAPSKATE! lol We had our 2nd annual garage sale this year and the weekend started off pretty shaky. My cousin had brought over his most adorable Miniature Doberman Pincher to visit for the weekend-that was on Thursday. Too bad the pup and my neighbors dog didn’t like eachother so it made for a tough time trying to keep the two away from eachother. Then FridayI didn’t get home from work until about 5:30 and apparently the shoppers were already coming in at 2:00 pm! 2 hours earlier than the sign said! My mom was stuck with the puppy and the neighbors dog all by herself trying to fend off the cold weather and later, the rain. By the time I got home it was already crappy and cold. The rain set in and we figured around 7:30 that we would stop the sale since nobody was coming around. (more…)

Well as I type this here, someone is pounding out a wall right behind my head with the loudest hammer known to man. I can barely hear myself speak when the phone decides to ring, and I can’t hear anyone else either.
So HOW is the job going you may ask? I am sick of it. I love temping and know that I was totally spoiled with a great last position, but this place sucks..badly. It doesn’t help that they are currently renovating around here so it is all dusty and messy, but the constant pounding and blowing up of who knows what is making me crazy. Not to mention the fact that the phone rings here about 4 times an hour…and that, ladies and gentelmen, is all I am “allowed” to do here. (more…)

You decide to drive down Forest Lawn’s main strip on your lunch hour and see a hooker walking along the road looking to see if you are interested.
You go to a Giant Tiger store to find really moody people walking around-good thing they have some really low prices.
You then proceed on to the Tim Horton’s store which has no drive through.
You stand in line waiting to place your order and a lady runs in saying she saw a car get swiped. Meanwhile you look out the window to make sure your car wasn’t hit only to find that an lady’s car got bashed and the young punks ran-good thing the crazy woman who saw it memorized the license number.
You ask for timbits to share with your office workers and the girl packs about 20 timbits of only 2 flavors instead of a variety.
You decide on buying an apple fritter donut for yourself because they have practically run out of every other flavor.
You walk back out to the car and a creepy man approaches you while you get in. Oddly enough he is well dressed, pretty young and is giving you a shit story about he needs money for food because he is hungry.
You tell the creepy man that you will buy him lunch instead of giving him money and he proceeds to be picky and says that he wants Vietnemese food instead and not Tim Horton’s.
You offer to give the man the donut you bought for yourself and a toonie while he nicely takes it and says that he is off to buy his Beef Noodle soup at the Vietnemese restaurant.
You see the guy then resort to hanging out by the corner asking OTHER people for more money-does he really want more than one Vietnemese soup??
You wonder if that creepy guy will end up getting mugged himself for having that extra change on him in a district like this.
You open your soup container only to find that there is barely anything inside the soup and you are stuck with boiled water.
You open your sandwhich to find that the lettuce is miniscule, the tomatoes are practically yellow and the cucumbers are crinkly-don’t forget the 10 pounds of creamcheese smeared all over the place.
You sit in your car with your 40 pieces of timbits to bring in to the office and the box breaks open from underneath, therefore dropping half the donuts on your most favorite pair of jeans.
Let’s just say that I now understand WHY people go out in their cars only and don’t go for walks on the street-unless, you know, they are hooking or looking for someone to steal money off of. At least I found the new Giant Tiger store in the area and found some decent deals without managing to get mugged or beaten on the road!!
Life is grand when you can buy yourself 3 styles of frozen food dinners (usually $4.00 each) a big bag of chips, mandarin oranges in a can and cough drops..and only have to spend $7.50!
I guess Forest Lawn really IS a dive!!

Another night of reality tv surprises…Zayra from Rockstar got the boot-finally. Mind you, I was always a fan of hers and was really sad to see her go. In the past weeks she was starting to sing a bit better, look even better and lose the attitude and snark. But her time was up and it was only a matter of which week for her to go. Either it was because her Spanish song had nothing to do with Supernova’s music, or perhaps her recording of that one song Dilana got to sing on results night was a mess, but Zayra is now gone. Hopefully she will have a big career singing Spanish songs or even doing something…she can easily be a model or an actress so she shouldn’t have a hard time finding work. (more…)

Ok can we say Rockstar Supernova goes Lite 96 easy listening? Last night’s show was great as always but maybe because anything that has nothing to do with Canadian Idol is better? However, some of the songs were so light and fluffy that I wondered what the band was thinking when they picked them up to distribute!! So here are my thoughts in no particular order: (more…)

Well it is about time that Canadian Idol starts working and the singers start singing!! Last night was definitely the best show to date, I don’t know if it is because there are less singers now or that the show is almost over, but SOMETHING is working! So what did I think? (more…)

Story of my life for the past month-temping! The past month has definitely been a busy one with the usual 8-5 work day which everyone who knows me will KNOW that I find it disgusting. However, it has brought me some money which helps. The sad reality when you are a music teacher is that your students want to take the summer off, and as their teacher I want to take the summer away from them too. Therefore, you get no money over the summer unless one student is nuts enough to want a lesson or two. So the temping agency comes to the rescue which is quite nice. Finally I started accepting positions in the South East and all of a sudden I got more phonecalls. (more…)

You know how you always get these dumb flyers in the mail to join this or sign up for that? Well a handful of weeks ago I decided to join a book club. No, not Oprah’s book club but one just as cool. I got this catalogue in the mail to find 5 of your favorite books for only 99 cents each, and it doesn’t matter what book. There HAD to be a catch..of course there was, but it wasn’t all that bad to be honest. The club sends out 19 catalogues a year of thousands of books, new releases, some older ones, paperbacks, hard covers..all that jazz. They have club pricing so you always save at least 20-40 percent off on the usual prices in stores. As a start to the club, you could pick 5 books of ANY size or shape for only 99 cents each plus another dollar added on to each of them for shipping. From there you could choose a gift as your 6th section or another book for the same price. I went through the entire 100 page catalogue online and picked out 6 books. Hardcovers-infact, if you wanted a 7th book for only $7.99 you could do that as well, so I did. (more…)
