Bright and early at 6:45 am, yes A.M., I awoke to get my costume, hair and makeup ready for school. Teachers were allowed to wear their costume so I was totally pumped to wear mine. Flash and splash was my name today!! It took me a long time to get ready and I was out of the house by 8:15 am. I was pretty shocked that nobody had dressed up except for my partner teacher!! As the day wore on, teachers got dressed and kids got to dress up as well. Here are some pictures of the day-and you get to see what my outfit looked like (some of you have seen it already) and who my partner teacher is! (more…)

A few funny and rather exciting things happened today-ok, well the students I was teaching were really off their rockers all day. They were talking out of turn, acting up and just being general goof balls full of sugar. But wait, Halloween isn’t until tomorrow right? Wrong-some of the freaky behaviour and oddball tricks are already happening! (more…)

October 27th, 2005. It was at this time last year that I started to hate my practicum, my teachers and in the end, myself. This year of course you have all been told of how much fun I am having at my new practicum.
Usually around this point of the year, your partner teachers are supposed to give you an oral assessment of how you are doing and where you should be going from that point. Last year, my teachers were too busy ignoring me and talking behind my back that I never got an oral assessment. I later found out that if I had one which stated what I thought was to be normal, aka, “Lisa is doing well” and had their signatures, I could have appealed the entire case to the University before it came time for me to withdraw. However, some things aren’t meant to happen that easily. (more…)

Despite the events that have since gone on in the past few weeks, I have had a nice break from school. This past week has been off for me because the elementary school I am doing my practicum at is a year round school. They start school in the middle of August so that they can have longer breaks throughout the year. Well this whole week has been PERFECT for me. Even If I have to make up the technical 3 days that are missed as other University students have to go to school. That is no biggie-it just means that I will be finished the end of the first week of December instead. (more…)

Thursday October 5th was the most dreaded morning to come. All of us had been in shock over my Uncle John’s death and Thursday would be another hit of reality for us. In a way, it was comforting to know that my uncle was still around us as he was not buried yet. The funeral home quite ironically was literally a block or two away from where he lived. The cemetary, a block or two away from there. Thursday would be the literal end of my uncle’s stay with us on earth. By the time we got home on Wednesday night, it was really late and we had to be up super early on Thursday morning. (more…)

One week ago today, life changed for everyone around me. Upon hearing of my Uncle John’s tragic and sudden death, everything else has been a blur. I cannot even believe that it is Friday already. The entire week has been spent over at my Aunt’s house offering support to her, her children, my mom and eachother. It has been all consuming, this grief. We all grieve for the loss of my uncle but I also grieve for the loss in everyones life. (more…)

As requested by mom, here is the picture in the obituary of her brother, my uncle.
He was born on October 17th 1950 in Italy. He was married to his wife (my aunt) for 36 years and produced 4 children, Tonia, Vince, Sam and Lisa. He was a hard working man who had his own business in cement and worked nonstop. Uncle John was also a kind man. He never complained or got angry, he just sat in the crowd and was always soft spoken. He was well known for going to every party and always clearing out a couch so he could sleep on it during the event. Who could blame him with all that work he did.
Uncle John passed away of a heart attack at 6:07 pm on Friday September 29th, 2006. This was one day before his Grandson’s birthday party and 2 weeks before his 56th birthday.
He can never be replaced but will always be missed.

I’m sorry, Mom.
What a tough weekend this has been, and the coming week will prove to be even more emotional. (more…)
